How do I obtain a hardship license in New York State?
I am often asked as a Buffalo DWI Lawyer on how to obtain a hardship license in New York State. A hardship license is different from a conditional or restricted license. These are only available within three days of your DWI arraignment. This is not a guarantee, and only is determined by the court or judge. I advise clients that you will only be able to drive to and from work for 30 days. However, if you have refused a breathalyzer test or have had another alcohol related conviction in the last five years, you will not be offered this opportunity.
